Latvia's Theatre Labour Association (LTLA)

Year Founded:

First founded in 1922 as the “Theatre Workers Society”;

In 1944 founded as the “Theatre Workers Society of LSSR”, later renamed the “Theatre Workers Union of the LSSR”;

Registered as the society “Latvia's Theatre Labour Association” (LTLA) in 2005.

 

Aims and Objectives:

  • Unite all professional theatre workers, who may join on a voluntary basis, under one non-profit umbrella organization LTLA;
  • Maintain, promote and develop the theatre culture of Latvia;
  •  Defend the rights and professional, economic and social interests of its members and enhance the prestige of theatre professions;
  • Participate in creating and implementing of culture policies at a state level;
  • Organize the annual national Theatre Awards event “Spēlmaņu nakts”.
